The law directory Legal 500 ranks Tark & Co as a first tier firm in nearly all categories

The latest edition of Legal 500 (http://www.legal500.com/c/estonia) has placed Tark & Co in the top tier in almost all of the areas covered. Tark & Co is rated as a first tier firm in the categories of banking & finance; corporate and M&A; dispute resolution; EU and competition; IP, IT and telecoms; real estate and construction; and shipping and transport. Tark & Co is also, for the first time, ranked in the area of tax law.
In banking & finance, the directory mentions partner Hannes Vallikivi and associate Mihkel Kolk as experts in this area; the services provided by the entire team are described by a client as “solid, appropriate, and highly competent”.
In corporate law, partner Toomas Taube is praised by one of the clients as being “easy to communicate with” and “one of the best corporate law advisers in Estonia”.
In the category of M&A, the publication highlights one of the major transactions in 2009 where Tark & Co advised Odense Steel Shipyard Group.
In dispute resolution, Tark & Co has earned recognition for the first time. According to the directory, the services of the firm in this area are “remarkably client-oriented” and lawyers are “very experienced and excellent negotiators”. Partner Erki Kergandberg is “a smart lawyer, extremely detailed, hardworking, and analytical”.
The EU and competition law practice group, being part of the M&A team, is depicted as “quick and an excellent problem solver in the shortest possible time”. Senior associate Margit Lahevee is pointed out as the principal contact, and senior associate Rene Frolov, who joined Tark & Co’s team in 2009, is also praised as “bringing very good expertise in competition law”.

In the area of tax law, Tark & Co has been ranked for the first time. The publication underlines a complicated VAT dispute against Estonian Tax and Customs Board where Erki Kergandberg successfully represented Swedbank Leasing AS.
